![]() Cam's love for the outdoors, hunting and fishing started at a very early age. Like most hunters and anglers conservation was a big part of his passion as a value instilled upon him by those he was in the outdoors with, his father and grandfathers. Before he was old enough to remember there are pictures of Cam on hunting and fishing trips with his family, often being carried in the field or falling asleep in his father's lap while they trolled for walleye on the Otonabee River in Peterborough where Cam grew up. As he grew up his love for the outdoors grew as well, spending time in the woods when he could with family and friends. Growing up on the Otonabee and in the Kawarthas Cam had the opportunity to fish a lot. When school was finished for the day or during summer holidays there was a good chance Cam was on the water fishing. At the age of 13 Cam entered his first competitive fishing event, being competitive by nature he really took to this side of fishing and still competes in some events each year, even winning the CFT 1 day Classic in 2004. Cam's love of hunting and being in the woods is what he still says "makes him tick". Once the hunting season opens Cam is hunting as much as possible. Cam is an avid hunter everything from groundhogs to moose, and has had success, at one time, with all of Ontario's Game. Cam loves waterfowl hunting and upland bird hunting but certainly looks forward most to heading to the deer and moose camp each fall for those weeks. A graduate of Sir Sanford Fleming College in Lindsay, Cam studied Ecosystem Management. During his college tenure he worked with the O.F.A.H. on summer programs and helped at various sporting shows and at O.F.A.H. head office when possible and needed. After Cam graduated he went to work with The Ontario Federation of Anglers and Hunters to help design the O.F.A.H. TackleShare program (a loaner rod and reel program in Ontario). He then began coordinating the OFAH/MNR Wild Turkey seminars for several years before moving the The Angler & Hunter full time in 2006. |
